I think a Jelly workaround would make thinks too complex (more than they already are 
:-).

But it's worthwhile to document that restriction somewhere on Jelly/Maven sites, 
specially because the dashes are permitted (and often necessary) when you are 
overriding jars.

...

project.properties
maven.jar.override = on
maven.jar.v-c = c:/myoverridenrepository/v-c-1.jar

=> the maven jar will try to download v-c-1.jar from ibiblio

Same test with
<id>vc</id>

and maven.jatr.vc = ...

works
