Your advice should be good :
I don't have
~/.maven/repository/httpclient/jars/httpclient-2.0.jar
nor
~/.maven/repository/httpclient/
I have a
~/.maven/repository/
with many subdirectories.
Where can I download httpclient-2.0.jar ?
For any reason maven does not try to do it.
