IMHO, genapp templates shuold be dependencies. This would solve lots of issues.
Getting templates from repo would be great, but also to have dependencies
automatically fetched when new is available (snapshots), or searched in a list
(repo list).

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MPGENAPP-4
Summary: Make genapp pull templates from repository instead of being
embedded in a plugin
       Type: New Feature

     Status: Open
   Priority: Major

 Original Estimate: Unknown
 Time Spent: Unknown
  Remaining: Unknown

    Project: maven-genapp-plugin

   Assignee: Arnaud HERITIER
   Reporter: Archimedes Trajano

    Created: Tue, 30 Dec 2003 3:28 AM
    Updated: Tue, 23 Nov 2004 4:08 PM

Description:
Perhaps we can provide a facility that would pull the template from the
repository whether remote or local.

We can also add the following targets:
genapp:install = installs the template
genapp:create-template = creates a template project based on an existing project
genapp:test-template = tests the template by creating an instance of the
template in the target directory, and runs the tests in generated instance.
