we'll keep that as a requirement for a full release system.

In the mean time, you can use your changelog to check project.xml commits for
time, version and tag.

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MPSCM-35
    Summary: Adding perform-release logging
       Type: Improvement

     Status: Open
   Priority: Major

 Original Estimate: Unknown
 Time Spent: Unknown
  Remaining: Unknown

    Project: maven-scm-plugin
   Versions:
             1.4.2

   Assignee: Brett Porter
   Reporter: Mark Church

    Created: Wed, 17 Nov 2004 9:47 AM
    Updated: Fri, 7 Jan 2005 8:37 AM
Environment: Java 1.4.2_05, Fedora Core 2

Description:
It would be useful for debugging purposes to have a way to log calls to
scm:perform-release. This would allow use to determine which version of a
project was released and when it was released.

The information to log would include :

* date & time of the release
* version released
* cvs tag released
* bootstrap goal used for the release

This log should probably be kept in a central repository such as a database or
a shared file system so that multiple developers working on the same project
can view a complete log of releases performed.
