is it possible you can build the latest artifact plugin from Subversion and
test this? It is still in beta, but it has been rewritten and this may not
longer be an issue.

Description:
I wasn't getting .md5 files when I would deploy my artifacts (e.g. jar:deploy)
so I Googled and found the "maven.artifact.legacy" property. I set it to
false, and everything looked good; I started getting .md5 files deployed.
Shortly after, I started getting intermittent failures from our automated
builds:
Deploying:
/home/build/.../project.xml.md5-->foo/poms/foo-20050302.114855.pom.md5
Executing command: mkdir -p /var/www/html/maven/foo/poms
SSH_MSG_DISCONNECT: 2 Received ieof for nonexistent channel 1.
Failed to deploy to: default Reason: Error occured while deploying to remote

The error is happening about 5% of the time, and it's always a different
artifact and a different part of the build process where it fails.
