there doesn't appear to be a simple way to detecgt windows nt vs windows
2000/xp, and exiting without /B is quite harmful but the only way it seems
possible to propogate the error level.
I'm afraid we can't officially support Windows NT (however if you find a
solution and attach a patch, feel free to reopen this and it will be applied)
