Eugene Kuleshov commented on MNGECLIPSE-39:
-------------------------------------------

Darren, in my opinion PDE editor, and in particular the page you've attached is
the least user friendly piece of UI I ever dealt with. The presense of XML tab
basically assuming that you can't do everything from the UI, which is actually
the case and in my experience it is usually easier to do all stuff in the xml.

Tabbed editor had been also suggested and it is the most obvious and easy way
to do this, but not necessary most convenient to the user, especially if you
need to find or filter out something.

I don't know how much do you know about POM structure but it is quite
heterogenous and could be quite large, that is why I thought about some
tree-table alike UI. Note that I am not suggesting to use WTP editor, but
rather borrow some UI ideas.

I don't agree that WTP should be part of core because there are too much
useless stuff. But it would be nice to break into smaller pieces - xml, web
services, app servers, j2ee and web apps, db to allow better reuse. The only
thing that may worth to have in core is the xml editor infrastructure...

> Form-based POM editor for the elements that are non-plugin related. These
> will be fairly standard as the POM is not going to change that much over time.
