As for m1.0 compatibility, as far as I know, only the newer versions of the artifact plugin are completely incompatible with m1.0.2. Apart from that, we are trying to keep m1.0.2 compatibility for all plugins. If you find something that works under m1.1 but not m1.0.2, then it should probably be considered a bug. Only in some cases we have implemented specific new features that require m1.1, but this should be at least well documented.
