Hi I implemented a patch against 2.0.4 which allows properties from .m2/settings.xml profiles (activeByDefault) to be interpolated into conf/settings.xml. please see: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-2577
This allows account settings to be filled into <server> definitions in conf/settings.xml.
