>But this vote is about where the active development of the code will >continue. And I have to disagree on Mojo, even if it is temporary.
I'll agree it's temporary in my mind. >The Maven PMC has no oversight over the project, nor any authority. >The code at mojo is not covered under any of Apache's legal documents >- there's no paper trail for the changes occuring. We would have authority when (if) it moves over, but point taken. >People from here may participate there, but they don't watch beyond >their own plugins (classic example: http://www.discursive.com/blog/ >2007/04/mojo-dev-but-did-you-test-it.html) That's certainly not good news, especially since it reflects on Maven as a whole. This is another topic for another list. >In addition, if it does get brought back, we lose the entire version >history from when it was changed at mojo. Less concerned about this, assuming it moved before being released. >Mojo is not a part of this project. There is good work being done on >independent plugins there - that's why it exists. But it is not an >incubator for this project. I think you've made some good points here. I pondered this a little more since I had firsthand experience with the dependency plugin that moved over. It was quite a mess and quite confusing for the users, I guess I tried to block those memories ;-) I guess my main concern is bringing over code where the primary developer doesn't have commit access, purely for efficiency reasons. Everyone donates time so the most effective use of that time produces the best benefit. This means Rafael being able to make the changes needed in an expedient manner and also not requiring Brett's (or other's) time to review every patch every time. (although one may argue there can be no better review...but I would counter that reviewing the commits can be nearly the same with some dilligence). I think you mentioned it, Brett, in your next email in the thread, but I'll ask anyway... Is there a way to incubate this in some level that doesn't require the full apache incubator? An official maven-incubator project with PMC oversite and committers who still require a normal vote for full committership? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
