I can fetch artifacts containing "-" from Archiva with Ant Tasks 2.0.8. Try with something simple, like pulling down commons-logging:commons-logging:1.1.1 from central to see if it's a problem with Ant Tasks or Nexus. NOTE: issues@ is not a normal mailing-list.
