I'm inclined to close this out as fixed since we provide browsing and help
information via /help:

http://host:port/help/metrics

{noformat: title=View "help" information for an endpoint}
http://host:port/help/metrics/snapshot
{noformat}
I'm not sure we could support the proposed technique since removing the suffix
is not a general solution to this problem.
