Hi folks,
I believe quite a few of the team are now subscribed to
this list, so welcome to the project!
This is the main development list for Milagro at Apache.
It's open to anyone with an interest in the project.
We expect much of the traffic to be the core developers
discussing software, but we also welcome outsiders (whether
beginner or expert) and other topics concerning Milagro.
One important thing to note is that, as far as Apache is
concerned, all project decisions take place on this list.
Of course people may want to discuss and brainstorm elsewhere,
but your conclusions only become project decisions when
they're agreed here. Note that we have a process called
"lazy consensus", which means (broadly speaking) that you
can take silence as agreement when you propose something.
I hope most of the Initial Committers named in the
proposal[1] are subscribed. If you haven't already
done so, you should read the new committer guidelines[2].
To get your accounts at apache.org you will also need to
return a contributor license agreement (ICLA).
Some of us are also now subscribed to the private@ list.
That's for project management issues that can't be
discussed in public. In practice that generally means
two subjects:
(a) Security issues before they are published.
(b) Personnel issues: nominations for committership.
I've had a number of subscription requests. I've moderated
through those who are on the Initial Committers list.
However, mail about this went round to a larger group,
and there were some subscription requests have come
from people not on the list. This raises the question
over whether the list might need revising, or whether
there's just been some confusion. I'll post separately
about that.
