Regression in 2.20.0: commit 530dbdb8 made authentication methods not in the set of methods that can continue fail early, but handled the "none" authentication wrongly by making it always fail. But it is perfectly legal to configure a server to allow the "none" authentication. Fix this and add a regression test covering the "none" authentication.
