Kernel development happens in the upstream kernel. Our goal is to have
zero patches, with case-by-case exceptions that still require submitting
patches to the upstream kernel (and therefore kicking off the
feedback<->rework process) before the patch lands in our Moblin source
package.

Our kernel team didn't need or want a git tree to help with their
development process.

The press reports were not very accurate. Yes, we are rpm based, and
yes we did bootstrap a bunch of our initial packages with fedora
packages (and some from OpenSuSE), but many of of those packages have
since be reworked.
Last year we only had an overlay apt repository that pulled the bulk of
the distribution from Ubuntu. Now we host the entire stack.

I do not know what Fedora is planning to support.

yes, it's an ongoing process.

The only thing missing for Menlow is support for the graphics driver.
When that driver becomes ready then expect submissions to upstream and
moblin at the same time.

This is exactly why we are now taking a much harder line on not hosting
patches that are not already in the process for inclusion into the
upstream tree.
In the case of the Poulsbo 2d graphics driver (xf86-video-psb), work has
now started to forward port the old driver and submit the patch to the
upstream kernel (which will open the door for inclusion into the moblin
kernel package.)
I do not know the timeline other then we finally have a kernel developer
working on it. I'm hopeful that the port will be pretty quick.

yes, it is.
