Perfectly! Many thanks for taking the time to clarify it, jackc...

A moblin compliant application should work with gconf v2.16. The public
headers in GConf-dbus and GConf are for all intents and purposes identical.
That isn't an issue. You don't need to change your gconf installed on FC10,
but your application configure.ac should not require any version newer than
v2.16. Your application should not use any GConf features/interfaces that were
introduced between 2.16 and 2.24.

Does that make sense? Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for this clarification. I chose the option to build on my Linux (FC10).

Does this mean i will get bit in the backside when i move my app over to the
moblin OS on the netbook and try to install/run it?

Tia, jackc...

Ah... Moblin uses GConf-dbus (v2.16) instead of GConf2, thus the current error
message. If you were building in Moblin then the error is correct.

Error message updated to accomodate both Fedora and Moblin.
Thanks for the note.

Bob

The error message is wrong. You need:
GConf2-devel
glib2-devel
libxml2-devel
libglade2-devel

Hi dev,

i am working to build projgen for FC10, the autogen.sh is failing with...

checking for magic_open in -lmagic... yes checking for PROJGEN... no

Error: One of the development libraries was not found for libglade-2.0, glib-2.0, gconf-2.0, or libxml-2.0 Moblin/Fedora: yum install libglade2-devel glib2-devel *GConf-dbus-devel *libxml2-devel Ubuntu: apt-get install libglade2-dev libglib2.0-dev libgconf2-dev libxml2-dev

My base install has already most of the needed libs, but the GConf-dbus-devel is missing. i have, ...

GConf2-2.24.0-1.fc10.i386
GConf2-gtk-2.24.0-1.fc10.i386
gnome-python2-gconf-2.22.3-1.fc10.i386

note the gconf2 version of 2.24 and no -devel package.

i also have dbus including, ...
dbus-1.2.4-2.fc10.i386
dbus-devel-1.2.4-2.fc10.i386
dbus-glib-0.76-3.fc10.i386
dbus-glib-devel-0.76-3.fc10.i386
dbus-libs-1.2.4-2.fc10.i386
dbus-python-0.83.0-3.fc10.i386
dbus-x11-1.2.4-2.fc10.i386

so i search the net and i find email about folks finding this failure and i find the repository for moblin2 that has the GConf-dbus-devel package.

my first thought was great, got it; i downloaded the rpm and found its version was 1.16!

i am reluctant to try and rip out the newer Gconf2-2.4 and downgrade, are there any better ideas? i could also try and hack the autogen.sh check, but that seems pretty ugly too...

my path is to build/run projgen so i can start my project locally.

all suggestions welcome, jackc...
