Since you are on Windows, may I make some different suggestions on the tools
you are using?

How to create bootable USB flash drive from .img or .iso images on Windows?

Moblin binary images are distributed as hybrid USB/CD-ROM bootable images.
You can burn these images to a CD-R or just make a bootable USB flash drive.
'dd' is the tool of choice for writing these images to a USB key on Linux.
But sometimes we don't have access to a Linux machine, so here's a nifty
tool you can use to create bootable USB flash drives from Windows. This
works even when all you have is a bootable .ISO image. These tools allow you
to create a bootable USB key.
UNetbootin - This tool allows you to extract an .iso image and make it into
a bootable USB flash drive. Just insert a USB key with enough space, start
UNetbootin and select Diskimage option, then select your .iso image. Make
sure you have selected the correct USB key drive, then press OK. This tool
also offers to download .iso images of many many Linux distributions and
create bootable flash images from those too. Pretty handy when your machine
doesn't have a CD or DVD drive (like netbooks). UNetbootin is also available
for Linux.

Win32 Image Writer - If you already have a .img file which is a ready to
write USB flash drive image, then you can use this tool to write it to a USB
flash drive.

Note: Since Moblin images are distributed as hybrid .iso/.img format both
the tools above will work for Moblin images. However if the image is only
.iso then you must use UNetbootin, and if the image is .img then you should
use Win32 Image Writer.

Subject: [Moblin Dev] Moblin Image writing

Hi,
I am trying to create a bootable image of the Mobin OS and I have some
questions with the CD and USB image writing. I am burning images using a
Windows XP machine.

1: The ISO recorder installation does not provide me with "Burn to CD"
option. I have installed the version of the software that works with my OS
configuration, I can see that the program is correctly installed, but there
is no way to launch it. I used the ImgBurn software instead but I would like
to know if anyone got IsoRecorder to burn images correctly.

2: The USB image writing software Win32DiskImager does not allow me to
choose the drive connected to the USB. I used a 2GB SSD connected through
the USB. Is there a distinction that this application sees between a regular
USB device and an SSD device connected to the USB. I am assuming it is a
different kind if formatting, since it sees a regular USB stick. Is there
any other way to create an image on the USB on windows?

Thanks,
Meghana
