"Are saying that when running from the live image yum install or rpm
will magically install the new files to the USB image??"

This is indeed what the others are stating. As long as you specify a
large enough overlay-size while creating a liveusb moblin-image via
moblin-image-creator (using the flag '--overlay-size-mb=<number of MB
to be used as persistent storage>'), alterations to the original
moblin-image you've created will be persisted to the USB storage your
image was initially transferred to.

This is a goodly part of the logic behind specifying which file-system
you want to use for your liveusb image with --fstype=<ext3 or vfat are
your choices with this flag>. I would opt for ext3 for the USB
image's file system if you are seeking to modify the live image 'in
place' with additional software and/or drivers.
