Unfortunately, it isn't as easily fixable as you suggest. Mozilla isn't
designed to run in more than one process, and we require access to its
information to provide full integration with the rest of the OS,
regardless of whether the browser is running.

Then there's the issue of our browser fitting in with the rest of the
Moblin applications. It uses Clutter, letting us do all the neat, subtle
animations (which we'll be taking even further advantage of in future
versions) - this is something that XUL just isn't capable of.

I agree that Firefox is great and I use it myself when other issues stop
me from using the Moblin web browser, but it isn't really designed for
the netbook form-factor. All the same, we still leverage as much from it
as possible. It's completely unsupported, but it's quite possible to use
Firefox extensions in the Moblin web browser, if you know what you're
doing :) Hopefully we'll be able to support something like Jetpack in
the future.

I think what we've chosen to do reflects what we're doing with Moblin as
a whole. We could easily have taken banshee or rhythmbox too, put a skin
over it and chosen to focus our efforts elsewhere. Indeed, we could have
just not bothered with a fully-integrated shell and just half-heartedly
written some gdesklets, or something similar.

We're trying to go the whole hog. Unfortunately, that's quite a task
with a browser, but I think we're getting there, and certainly as
Mozilla moves more in the direction of multi-process and embedding,
we'll be able to leverage more of their work.

Totally agree - that's bug #2419 and we want to have that fixed as soon
as possible (but of course, crasher and even more basic functionality
bugs take precedence).

The latter bug is fixed in the latest code (unfortunately no bug number,
but we don't intend on breaking it :))

And thanks for your feedback, it's duly noted :)
