Hi Terry,

Suppose you already filter out the USB key corruption suspicion, then
you could remove "quiet" from the grub boot menu, and add "single" to
see where it hung.  If you could get the terminal console, please check
any /var/log/Xorg.0.log generated.  Thanks.
