Excellent job!! Congratulations!! I have downloaded the release right after I received the announcement yesterday. It took me less than one hour to have everything I need on my SONY netbook this time. I now have the following running nicely on my netbook: - Moblin 2.1 from moblin.org - Firefox from Garage of moblin.org - IBM Symphony for productivity - Twitter for social network - MSN for instant message
I used to have a helloketty as the background picture of myzone. I like the big fat cat with those nice little birds came with moblin 2.1 very much, so I am not going back to my helloketty. :-) I have been a constant user since Moblin 2.0, so I can tell how much it has been improved. It's amazing to see how much improvement the development team has done in only a couple of months. I would like to share a few features I like most about Moblin 2.1: 1. The way connman handles with wi-fi is fascinating. It works seamlessly when I move around different locations for meetings. It knows where I am and connects to the right access point automatically for me. For example, I went to our headquarters for a management meeting last morning, and I switched my wi-fi to connect with AP installed at the meeting room (first time). When I came back to my office (about 10 KM away from my headquarters), connman knew I was back to my office and automatically connected to the AP I normally had at the office. 2. The installation is amazingly simple and quick. It only take a few steps to install, and almost right after you click the button of the last step, the installation is done. It is only a matter of few minutes, less than 10 min, and I have an operation system for my machine. I actually didn't believe it would work the first time I installed it. I left my USB key on the machine for some more time just in case. :-) Now I am quite used to how fast the installation is. 3. Display management. I had a meeting with one of the top ODM vendors at their meeting room one day. I took my netbook with me. I was thinking about what backup plan I had right after I stepped into the meeting room. There was no overhead projector, only one big screen TV sit in the front of the meeting room. Out of my surprise, Moblin on my netbook worked perfectly with that TV screen, no resolution issue, no screen cut. (I shouldn't have worried so much in the beginning :-)) fyi. Windows XP on my colleague's notebook didn't work well with that particular TV. :-) So thank you guys for such a wonderful job!
