it should, but the knife isn't sharp enough here - that is,
there's no precise specification for what the "-r" and "-c"
answers actually imply
-r, --release
display the release number of the distribution
-c, --codename
display the codename for the distribution release
What information do you want to deduce? For example, if the
idea is to find out if the distro is built to use the clutter
based desktop or not, getting back an answer of release=2.1
really tells you nothing at all; the Moblin spec could be
enhanced to define some values for some field of lsb_release
if there was a clear need and a way to separate different
features on that basis, but nothing like that has happened
to date.
