I have got Moblin 2.1 working in Virtual Box 3 on Ubuntu 9.04, I used the Moblin Image Creator 2 to create a RAW image which I intended to use for KVM but couldnt get it to boot, then I used VBoxManage to convert the RAW image to a VDI disk image, and then booted it. In the VM settings you need to make sure that ACPI, IO_APIC and PAE/NX are all enabled, and that 3D acceleration is disabled. Once it has booted, you can install the guest additions to fix the screen resolution.
It runs very slowly, but it works! If you want some more detailed instructions just let me know and Ill write some up.
