Dear Yong Wu,
thanks for the answer.
I do have the ~/.mozilla/moblin-web-browser directory.
I did try also from the about:config page, I set manually the tab bar
autoHide to TRUE and the bar disappear, then if I close and restart the web
browser it is still disabled, but if I restart moblin the tab bar appears
again and the option is set to FALSE again.. :(
why does this happens after reboot? can the problem be due to the fact I
installed moblin on a SD card and it is running from it? don't think so but
who knows..
So the settings are saved when restart browser, but lost when reboot OS,
right.. It seems you have tmpfs/ramfs and those changes are not flushed
to your SD card. You could run 'mount' command from terminal to check
whether your '/home' folder is mounted on a tmpfs. Also please check
whether you could save a normal file in your home folder after system
reboot. For example, from the terminal, run 'echo This is $USER from
$HOSTNAME > $HOME/dummy'. After reboot your OS and check the $HOME/dummy
file.
Another possible reason, did you run with different user? The browser
profiles are created per each single user, not global.
should I report this to bugzilla?
thanks again for helping me bye!
ps. could not try the localstore.rdf stuff as I can not find the profiles
directory..
Normally it is under
$HOME/.mozilla/moblin-web-browser/xxxx.default/localstore.rdf, in case
your profiles are already created (it is created in the 1st time browser
started) and the changes were flushed into the SD card successfully.

Hi all,
it was not easy at all for me to understand how to properly post
impressions/suggestions/comments and so on about moblin.. I hope this is
the
correct way..
I am on my eeePC 901 (9" screen) and I really like the project, but the
web
browser perplexes me a little as it is not so optimized for small screens
as
it could be.
For example the tab and status bars are always shown by default (the first
one would be better if shown only in case you have more than one tab open)
and the menu bar has too big icons.. this way you waste a lot of space on
the screen which is already so small!!
Thanks for the comments. All your suggestions are valid. The browser team
have
planned to make theme to be more effective for small screen.
You can disable the bars from the preferences and also change the
appearance
theme to get smaller icons and more area available on the screen but if
you
restart the system you lose all the changes and the web browser always
shows
up with the default settings and appearance.. :(
do you know if it possible to make the changes permanent to save space on
the screen?
The browser do remember your settings (via the profiles). As long as the
profile
system (~/.mozilla/moblin-web-browser) is not deleted or corrupted by
accident.
Or else, please file a bug on bugzilla.moblin.org.
Btw, you could check the about:config values to verify your settings - say,
to hide
the tab bar on single tab, please check whether 'browser.tabs.autoHide' is
'true'.
Or you could set it to true manually. (Prefs are set from about:config
which can
be invoked from the url bar).
To hide the status bar, you could find a localstore.rdf file under your
profiles folder.
Please check whether the hidden attribute is set in the #status-bar xul
element.
<RDF:Description
RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#status-bar"
hidden="true" />
There are other options in that file you could hack with. But the standard
way Is to
use the preference dialog.
The small-icon feature is not fully supported. We will improve it in the
next release.
Again, thanks for your feedback.
Regards, Yong
