Hi I have been trying out Moblin 2.1, 1st as a live CD and then installed on my hard drive. I am liking it and have figured out [mostly] how to get all the various things [webcam, mp3's, wifi, etc.] working for my Acer Aspire One D150. I would like to reinstall it, using a better partition layout than I have now. [160GB harddrive = 2GB swap and 158GB root/]. Can someone suggest a better partitioning scheme, please? i.e. - what would be the best size for root partition, so it can function well?
[[Being new to Moblin and fairly new to linux][opensuse 11.1 on reg. PC] I have another question regarding what [in Moblin] is used for the package manager. I see a lot of command line stuff [in Moblin examples] using yum which is used as the cli package manager in Fedora type distros, i think. [Pardon me for my ignorance] And then there is the Settings>Application Manager, Application Installer and Moblin Garage for software. I have found the repos or sources as it is called in Moblin. My question is: [and remember I AM newbie] Can I add any repositories I want [such as Packman] and will I be able to get any software I like [for linux] and will it be usable. And if I have to deal with dependancies, is that where yum comes in? Can someone point me to some documentation that would be useful in explaining this all to me in terms a newbie can understand. Or am I making it a lot more complicated than it is? I am only used to dealing with yast thru opensuse, as yet.
