I also would like to reimplement it in pure java, so it does work on other systems than solaris. For pkgproto this is quite easy. For the other parts I would need some more knowledge about the package-format. Maybe I have to get the sources from open-solaris and dive into them. I am not sure if I will have the time to do this on my own without a team.
