MOJO-1195 provides the commit revision if you are building from a tag but it
would be more flexible if this and other variables where always made available
(when using with SCM). This would allow you to use the build variables
regardless of where the svn base is located; tag, release branch, etc.
Patch attached that exposes:
* scmLastCommitRevision
* scmAuthor
* scmDate
