Jörg Hohwiller commented on MOJO-1192:
--------------------------------------
If we are talking about enterprise usage then we should talk about the fact to
hardcode a plain-text password in a pom.xml.
Those who want to have an empty password should be able to do so. For a
in-place database checked into VCS together with
sources and POMs there is no need for a cryptic password that is readable for
everybody and for data that is visible on the website anyways.
I can not see the point of Davids comment.
You should distinguish between no password and a password (that may be empty).
So If my configuration is missing a password then dashboard can complain but
when i have
<password></password> it is wrong if the plugin says that the password is not
configured.
There are tons of users out there that want to use your cool plugin. Do not
waste your time in supporting them to get
just started. Every second user will have these problems and will open new
issues (look at me - MOJO-1297) and simply
waste your time. If you have a chance to make it easier for newbies and avoid
pitfalls then you should go for it.
IMHO this also applies to creating the schema if it is not present.
> the password of jdbc in the configuration should allow blank.

> I want to use the hsqldb to store the information of the dashboard.
> But when I use the default user "sa" and password "", some error occured.
> [INFO] One or more required plugin parameters are invalid/missing for
> 'dashboard:persist'
> [0] Inside the definition for plugin 'dashboard-maven-plugin' specify the
> following:
> <configuration>
> ...
> <password>VALUE</password>
> </configuration>
> -OR-
> on the command line, specify: '-Dpassword=VALUE'
> I think we should allow to use blank password.
> Thanks.
