Jesse Glick commented on MNBMODULE-94:
--------------------------------------
Understood that the archetype could not modify settings.xml. This would need to
be considered some kind of prerequisite to using non-Platform suite projects;
the NB IDE wizard could set it up, perhaps.
Regarding running from a kit module - right, you would need to instruct the
launcher to load "sister" modules from the repository.
Ultimately I would like to eliminate the distinction between applications and
add-on module suites, align module selection better with what you see in Plugin
Manager (as opposed to a cluster list), and make a kit module the center of the
application (perhaps even removing the nbm-application packaging). Obviously
there are a number of steps needed to get there.

> The suite archetype should likely not define a {{profiles.xml}} since
> https://cwiki.apache.org/MAVEN/maven-3x-compatibility-notes.html#Maven3.xCompatibilityNotes-profiles.xml
> claims it will no longer work in Maven 3.0.
> (This file might be unnecessary anyway; see MNBMODULE-93.)
> {{nbactions.xml}} is also likely unnecessary given that
> http://hg.netbeans.org/core-main/raw-file/default/maven.apisupport/src/org/netbeans/modules/maven/apisupport/ideActionMappings.xml
> seems to provide the same functionality without any special metadata in the
> project.
