I don't know how to get a "revision" number for cvs.
btw there is some fixes now and the mojo won't fail anymore.

> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: buildnumber
> Affects Versions: buildnumber-maven-plugin-1.0-beta-4

> I was trying to use buildnumber plugin with cvs scm but it seems to not
> support cvs at the moment. I've made a quick glimpse into the sources and it
> looks like some part of implementation is missing? Actually in
> CreateMojo.java there is svn hardcoded: scmManager.getProviderByType( "svn"
> ); that is used to get the latest revision.
> I wonder if this is planned at all - documentation does not mention lack of
> cvs support.
