Please include this patch. I'm working on a project which embeds version
information to decide whether or not things get cached. If I base this version
number on the SCM tag only, then repeated builds on my local workstation result
in unwanted caching. This patch allows me to embed an SCM version and a build
number, which solves my problem in an elegant way.
