Can't handle directory structures / subdirectories as output directory

While trying to run fit tests with a nested subdirectory structure as input
(e.g. fit/tests2, fit/tests3, fit/tests2/test21) the plugin fails to create the
matchingdirectory structure on the output side.
Please find an attached set of proposed sketches for fixing this.
