The first non-beta release should be a 1.0 or 1.0.0, that's what users
expect.If for some reason the first 1.0 doesn't seem ready to release, just
drop it, make the adjustments and restart the vote (take 2). Take as many
'takes' as required untill all are satisfied.You don't want gaps between your
releases.You want to base a vote on a tagged version, but there's absolutely no
problem with removing a tag if it hasn't been released yet. -Robert From:
