Temporary sounds like a bad idea. If you don't want to make the attachment/dependency publicly in any form you'll have to create a separate project for the testing. Adjustments also sounds bad in they way you proposed. I think you can manipulate enough with the maven-shade-plugin. Anyhow, this problem should be solved at the source of the problem, don't try to correct it afterwards. So I'm not convinced yet.
