I have patch for this - but your IT does not quite address the problem.
Simply placing an XmlType annotation on a class does not make all types in
the class belong to that namespace. JAXB seems smart/clever/annoying enough
to map the String type to the standard XML namespace.

Altered the IT and attached a patch.
