See the documentation on the identification parameters: http://mojo.codehaus.org/rpm-maven-plugin/ident-params.html What is your reason for not using the default behavior (which generates a "SNAPSHOT" equivalent release)? This behavior allows snapshot versions of rpms to be "upgraded" to newer snapshot versions and then finally upgraded to the final release version.
