If you are going to override the default behavior of determining the "release", you must also provide a valid "version".

What is your reason for not using the default behavior (which generates a "SNAPSHOT" equivalent release)? This behavior allows snapshot versions of rpms to be "upgraded" to newer snapshot versions and then finally upgraded to the final release version.
