The chronos-jmeter-maven-plugin instructs jmeter to generate jtl output that is internally further processed to a performance-tool neutral format that can be analyzed by the chronos-report-maven-plugin.
The intention with chronos-jmeter has always been to use it in conjunction with chronos-report.
If you solely would like to invoke JMeter as part of your build, you might prefer to use the jmeter-maven-plugin http://wiki.apache.org/jmeter/JMeterMavenPlugin or use the exec-maven-plugin with a simple script the invokes JMeter for full customization power (as suggested on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11740920/what-maven-plugin-is-to-be-used-for-jmeter-jmeter-maven-plugin-or-chronos-jmete?answertab=active#tab-top)
