Anders Hammar commented on MJBOSSPACK-53 Can't use the jboss-esb packaging in a parent pom I still don't understand. What you should have in the parent project (pom) is declaring the extension. This is described here: http://mojo.codehaus.org/jboss-packaging-maven-plugin/usage.html#Enabling_the_JBoss_Packaging_Types Then you just use the custom packaging type in the child projects. If you want to add configuration you do that the standard Maven way, but you should stick to the defaults normally. But sure, the error message could very likely be improved as you say someone was confused. Please suggest this improvement and I will fix that! (either via a patch here or a link to the diff in github)
