Per Sam's proposal [1], Issue #15737 [2] and the fix [3] are added to the scope of 1.5.1 patch release.
A friendly reminder: the issue proposing will be closed before 11pm 8/7 CST (8am 8/7 PST). After that, we will start to cherry pick fixes to the v1.5.x branch.
