The gump build is already setup...
http://vmgump.apache.org/gump/public/myfaces/myfaces/index.html..
But most of the time it just fails (todays build is because of a failing
bootstrap-ant).
Just let me know if I can help out in any way..

I'm sure it varies from project to project. I believe Struts is using
Maven for preiodic builds of the website and the resulting unit tests
and code coverage reports. I think some of the subprojects (like
Shale) are running off Craig's server (or at least they were.) If
they haven't moved to the solaris zone for everything they will be
shortly.
Craig's idea about setting up a Gump build is also probably a good
idea. Again, I don't have time to deal with it right now but here is
my +1 to whomever wants to volunteer to set that up ;-)

How is the nightly build procedure handled by other projects?

Yes we definitely need a zone for myfaces. I put out a call for
volunteers a little while back asking for someone to take the lead on
this. Do you want to volunteer? I haven't been monitoring the
site-dev list lately because I have been so busy so I don't know much
about what is required.
A solaris zone is definitely the way to go for the build. Right now
the nightly build is on a server at my work. We have a lot of
problems with the nightly build procedure now (no unit tests being
run, build failures are not reported to the mailing list and the
website changes are not published.)
So I think getting a mavenized build up on a solaris zone would be
huge. Eventually we could also host our example applications on a
Tomcat instance which would be *very* nice to have.
