Problem with empty mandatory fields and the resulting error message

Hello.
I am using a <tr:inputText ... required="true" ....> tag in a jsp.
If this field is empty the evaluation results in an error message like <link
field name> <error message>.
If i klick this linked field in IE 8, the browser window is like frozen, the
windows hour glass is appearing.
The only way to get out of this situation to change the focus of the IE for
short, after going back then to the IE, everything works fine.
