Hello Everyone.

I am leading the miskito(miq) translations and I would like to know If we could work with launchpad.net[1] on line translations tool. A part of the
Launchpad requisites is to get the approval of the upstream team[2].

With Launchpad, you would just need to publish a "translation template"--in the form of a .pot file--via a web form when it best suits you (for example, when your next version is feature complete). Once published in Launchpad
Translations, it would be made available to a body of dozens of Free
Software enthusiasts who would be then able to translate it. When you're ready to release your next version, you would request an 'export' of all the
available translations, which you would get in a tar.gz archive.

Can we do this for the miskito translation??

Launchpad as a platform is a Canonical product and is non-free. However, I understand that it is very easy to use, several people here told me about it. You are free to use whatever tool you want. At some point, however, the output you will produce will have to be integrated into our existing localization process. For instance, the .po files you will generate will have to be converted into .sdf files. See here: http://l10n.openoffice.org/localization/Translation_Process_technical_overview_v4-2.odp and http://l10n.openoffice.org

Hope this helps,

Charles.
