Hello,

I'm Asmelash Teka, a 4th year Information Technology student at
Mekelle institute of Technology, http://www.mekit.net/, Ethiopia. I'm
very passionate about creating softwares that speak Ethiopian
languages particularly Amharic and Tigrigna(There are more than 80
languages spoken in my country)!! I'm also a strong advocate of free
and opensource software.

I belong to a localization group at MIT. In our group, there are some
energetic young students highly interested to localize opensource
software. You can visit our group page at
http://groups.google.com.et/group/l10n-et and see the list of products
we're working on.

Most important to my request, our group is currently localizing
openoffice. We're translating some po files and also learning how to
build openoffice at the same time. We hope to finish and make it
available for download with in one month(that's with out translating
the help content). This is the main reason I need to lead the NLC for
Amharic.

Thanks in advance,
asmelash
