Proposal of translating Openoffice to Afar Language
This proposal is about creating NLC project for Afar Language. It
addresses 3 isues.About the target language, the project goal, and Our team.
The target language
Afar Language is one of the languages mostly spoken in the horn of
Africa. It is spoken in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and many countries in
the rest of the world. It is written With Latin Alphabet. This language is
spoken in countries where the people know little about IT. In addition, this
language is used by people who live in the poor part of the world(daily
income of less than $2 per person). So, the translation of Openoffice to
this language is very significant for this people .
The Project Goal
Our team needs openoffice.org to be translated to Afar Language, inside
the Native Language Confederation. We wish to register a level two project.
We have also already established a team of contributors for this project.
The team
The Project initiators are from Ethiopia. This team has been localizing
openoffice.org to Afan Oromo. We have aimed at localizing many of the native
languages spoken in Ethiopia. All team members can use Afar language well.
Our team will be lead by:
-Arade Tariku ......- Bsc. degree in Electrical Engineering. He has
developed many applications in Afar language.He is committed to act as a
responsible entrepreneur and inspired many Afar speaking people to
participate in this project.
-Belayneh Melka, Bsc. degree in Electrical Engineering. Has also developed
lots of applications and Database Systems in Afar Language.
In addtion, lots of Afar Language speaking intellectuals will participate
on this project.
