Peter Junge and I are trying to see whether it makes sense to set up a CJK RegiCon this or next year. "Makes sense" means, inter alia, whether we can find sponsors, venue, people, and what the schedule of things to work on should be. I for one would want to resolve (or not) issues related to localizations, IVS, ODF, UOF and so on, and also to engage public and private enterprises in the development of OOo, ODF, and the regional communities.
In short, I've got an ambitious agenda. The current scene, though, is less than encouraging, for a number reasons. Public and private enterprises have stalled in the adoption, but ought not to, now. Still, the field is anything but simple, it is in fact quite complex. But this to me only speaks to the huge opportunity that beckons. I'm also optimistic. So, we'd like to learn of the insights the East Asian groups might have…..
