Agreed. I was asking Glenn Holmer for clarification because he said he was running NetBeans under JDK 13, which includes the fix.
The font fix is already backported to 11.0.6 version of OpenJDK which is scheduled for early 2020. I think this setting can go away with Apache NetBeans 12.0.
