A few weeks ago, while taking a first time look at php, I was checking
out php docs on website. I discovered some broken asciidoc cross
reference links, these are links from one area of a file to another in
the same file. I'm guessing these links were lost in translation from
html to asciidoc.
A simple linker checker shows approaching 4,000 broken cross reference
links throughout the docs, see summary below.
One idea is that these docs should be left as is and new docs should be
generated. I'd like this, but am concerned that this will take several
years.
Another thought is to fix the original conversion program, branch/check
in the fixed asciidoc files, merge in to the current files. If there
hasn't been much manual fixup, this should be pretty painless.
Anyway, wanted to report this before I forgot about it again.
