I'm about to cancel the current vote on NetBeans 12.2 release as it
seems we have a fix now for the MacOS launcher.
Nevertheless, I'd express my disappointment in the communication and the
timing of this issue. Till this date there is no blocker or even
critical issue reported.
I've decided so as for a brief time 12.2 will be the only NetBeans
Version that would support BigSur. Other NetBeans Platform applications
would have trouble with that as well.
Also AFAIK Apple is pretty aggressive on their updates. Though I have a
corp. MacBook Pro, I was fortunate enough that COVID locked that up in
an office drawer ~1000km away.
So, I'm going to apply the patch on delivery, release122 and master
branch. I'm going to cut an RC3. I'm going to announce the RC3, and wait
for fast feedback form BigSur and MacOSX (whatever it is called) users,
to confirm that the patch is working I need 2 confirmations for each
MacOS versions.
Then I'm going to cut another release and restart the vote process. I'm
pretty busy this week, so expect some delays.
Also once I start the vote round I'm going to ask to collect PR
candidates for 12.0u2. I think it would be Ok to release a partial
upgrade along with a MacOS installer as convenience binary.
