Hey Eric, I know your Problem. Which operating System do you use? Maybe it is somehow related to that? Or maybe it is also related to not using git native but jgit?

I believe at the time the answer was "the git support using egit uses an very old version" and I believe there may have been a PR to update this, but as of 12.2 when trying to pull the netbeans source, it seems to take a veeeery long time doing this in NB (if it finished at all). Last time I figured the problem might have also been impacted by the PC I was using at the time, but with a newer higher end machine and it still seems to be slow as molasses. Any idea?
