Could someone kindly help me install Netbeans: in particular, how to install
npm, node.js, git, and, above all, bower. It is extraordinary that loading a
program could be so difficult.

When you open your first project in Netbeans, you're told to go to Properties
(right-click on the project). There, one finds a list of Categories, including
JavaScript Libraries, namely npm, Bower, and CDNJS (??) If you click on npm,
you get a note on the large pace to the right saying "<package.json not found>"
-- this, even though I've previously downloaded node.js and npm from Download |
Node.js (nodejs.org). (I can't find them if I use Windows Explorer, however).
I'm also sure I've downloaded git. And I've earlier downloaded bower, I believe.

If I click on bower, I get a brief message saying "Loading the installed Bower
packages," meaning, I suppose, that I have installed Bower somewhere. Then I
get a totally cryptic blank window with Regular and Development tabs, the only
available option being Add. (Add what to what, I ask?) If I click on Add, I get
the message on the large blank space "<No package found>." As with npm and
node.js, I can't find Bower with Windows Explorer, so I don't know where it is
or, if I did, what to do with it.

Any help on all this would be appreciated. Thanks.

(Yesterday I sent a similar request to Stack Overflow, unaware of this forum.)
